When did you
first get involved with flash?
only recently - i moved to sydney and found a bunch of hyper
energized, intelligent people all breathing this stuff.
it got me hooked because the designers had a passion that
seemed to have left architecture.
What is your
view of the current use of flash?
flash is emerging. as with all new technologies, the first
stage is to simply do what the medium has always done, but
a little better or quicker. the tool has been around long
enough to become second nature for a generation of designers
yet not long enough to define the next paradigm of web experience.
its exciting because its founded. but
its more exciting because its still to mature.
Who do you
feel is advancing the use of flash the most?
the community builders, the ones who understand that the
technology is the tool and the community is where the meaning
lies.
Who has been
your greatest inspiration?
in the flash world, webmaster@flashkit.com [the human version
i encounter regularly]
Where do you
see the future of flash?
flash opens a new chapter on what is traditionally considered
the territory of the architect - to define places for meaningful
human interaction.
flash is a great asset in the toolkit of the virtual architect.
it offers the opportunity to control the most powerful of
spatial experiences - the threshold.
in architecture, the ability to control the experience
of a visitor is directly related to the skill and fluency
of the designer, in manipulating the edge condition. once
this is understood the online experience is bound to deepen
in meaning.
already flash has been the spark that has brought incredible
communities together. from that beginning the future is
limited only by commitment and sharing of knowledge.
What advice
would you give to budding flashers?
