Interview

Where are you from?
Canberra, Australia

Where did you grow up?
Canberra, Australia

What's your favorite saying or cliché?
Zoopy! meaning something really cool… like Flash ;-)

What's your favorite movie?
Local Hero (soundtrack by Mark Knoffler)

What's your favorite cocktail?
Manhattan.

When did you first get involved with flash?
When it was Future Splash.

What is your view of the current use of flash?
People are just starting to use it well, as great way of delivering web applications rather than just as self absorbed 'flashy intros to sites'.

What do you feel is advancing the use of flash the most?
Database connectivity.

Who has been your greatest inspiration?
I think Yugo has to take the cake. I especially like his attitude that Flash is just a tool that helps you create the product you want, ie it's just the paint brush… what is important is the painting.

Where do you see the future of flash?
World domination ;-) … Flash is already a standard. I think you'll see more and more sites rely wholly on Flash as more developers start to use Flash as a web application development environment. I think that very soon surfers will expect that sites will contain Flash rather than traditional html.

What advice would you give to budding flashers?
Develop the concept for the design, user experience, and functionality of a site first and then use Flash to make it happen. Don't start with one cool effect in Flash and develop a site around that.

What can FK Singapore 2001 attendees expect from you?
A lot of fun, cool Macromedia merchandising and some pretty solid content showing how to convert a static site to a dynamic Flash based site.
