Always Twirling Toward Freedom
Channel Surfing 2
That right folks its back! Channel surfing will be back in full swing here very soon, so get your thinking (and creativity) caps on. Something I would like to point out about this one is, I am not going to be director of the project like last time.

But why Pooon?
Well I have a lot of things I wanted to get out of the way first and I also have another idea in mind, similar to channel surfing in the way that it is made up of community made shorts, but different in nature and a billion times more intense, so having someone else take care of this will give me a chance to make this idea a reality. Its called "The Beat" and I'll probably begin production in a couple weeks time if everything goes correctly. I'm going to be planning this with Olly K.
As for channel surfing 2, I have left that in the hands Mega Toon. He was a big part of channel surfing one and I'm sure he'll do a great job with this one. But don't fret, I still have a strong part in the project and I'll make sure it gets the polish necessary before being released but as I mentioned, I'm sure he'll do a great job. Now I don't know if he wants to do anything different with it but I'll be sure he'll let you know well in advance. But whatever the case start thinking now and I want this one to blow the first one out of the water. Remember, the ones that everyone really noticed were the really well made/drawn ones and the funny ones. Especially the funny ones.
One more thing I'd like to add. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, follow the guide lines. 400 X 300, 24 frames a second, no longer than 15 seconds, send the fla not the swf, and don't make the cartoon out of action script just use motion tween like a normal person (You may think this sounds silly but one of the clips was made this way and it was difficult to get working with the rest). I spent 50% of my time fixing up these errors and this time if it breaks the guide lines, we'll just not accept it until its right, this way we can spend more time on the over all production. Now I don't know if he's planning on changing the guidelines (I doubt it) but, as I said before, if anything is different he'll let you guys know.
And with that, I hand this thread over to Channel Surfings new director, Mega Toon.

Woo and Yay!
Two community project to get stuck into, screw revising this is far more important!

GAME ON!!!!
Sorry poon just got your PM. Great to see the thread is already started.
I would like to go with the original guidlines posted here. We eventually be able to tie them all together:
http://www.flashkit.com/board/showth...hlight=Channel
As for a deadline right now isn't one. I'd like to get as many people on board as possible. So the deadline really depends on you guys.
I've also got some ideas for implentation of the next Channel Surf. So you will notice me more and more in the Help forums asking questions. Again this will me a community project. So I will also need FK to help me out.
Let's get started, whether you are alongtime member or just getting started here. This is the perfect opportunity for those looking for animation help to pick my brain.
Email megatoon(at)shaw.ca with any questions. Or if you would like some of my fla's to play around with

Number two so soon? Maybe I'll be able to make something for this one... I've gotten a bit better.
-
Illuminatus!
Might be a good idea to wait a bit. I have finals coming up next week, and Im sure many others have too.

Always Twirling Toward Freedom
I don't think he's starting right this minute. And besides, I gave a month for my deadline, mega toon might set his for longer.

I think i mught put a little something together for the cause (I need to get my but up and stop playing around any way )
-
GAME ON!!!!
Don't feel any pressure to get something done right away. It takes as much time as it takes to get enough clips together.
There is no absolute deadline.
Really this is just to get my butt in gear as well. Animation had become somewhat boring before the last Channel Surf. I had alot of fun creating the clips. Reminded why I wanted to animate in the first place.
Thought I'd get the bugs in everyone ear about Channel Surf 2
Take care

It's a secret. Actually, I've now planned to hold it off till around winter, because with channel surfing 2 happening now, doing two similar projects at the same time would be a mess. I would've started in the fall but I'm heading east for a couple months and leaving my computer behind.
So yea, same as before. Random shorts and so on. Keep in mind, as I said before the ones everyone remembers are the well made ones and the really funny ones.
Also, be sure to check the original for ideas or inspiration.

ooh, i wonna post them here, i'm quite proud of them, especially as i havent animated in like 7 months. but i guess you'll all have to wait until cs2 comes out. its nothing special, but i like them ^-^

NO ACTIONSCRIPT!!!!!!!!!, no actionscript and only tweens like a normal person hahahaha, sorry but that breaks me up.
-
Always Twirling Toward Freedom
A little bit of action script for special effects and what not, but not for everything that moves.
-
cartoonfox
yeah, if your gonna use actionscript. make sure you dont use _root (use _parent instead).
'cos when megatoon puts the flas together, _root becomes the main -root, not the one i your fla

not really, people have made the mistake before ^-^

Always Twirling Toward Freedom
.... I had to deal with it. Actually the biggest problem came when the clip was made with mx 2004 actionscript and I brought it into mx.

limits
I know we are supposed to be limited to 15 seconds, but my composer could only get the music to fit within 18 seconds. If we raise the tempo to where it fits in 15 seconds, it sounds awful.
I need to know if this is going to be a problem before we begin animation.
-
Always Twirling Toward Freedom
Its a bit of a stretch but we won't make a fuss over 3 seconds.
-
GAME ON!!!!
No prob 18 secs will work.
Bacon I did receive your files. They look great. I see how you want them organized in teh final. I will email if I've any questions.
I'm hoping to get these all in by July 31st
