Flashkit Minigame Marathon - GAMES LIST

This thread is intended for the games of Flashkit Minigame Marathon (temporary name). Please visit the original thread here: [disc] Flashkit Minigame Marathon - proposal and discussion

    Games template:
If you would like to create a game use the following game template by Pred (Flashkit username: iopred): basictemplate.fla

Important: Additional Points for the minigames
    1) Don't make calls to _root
    2) Don't have buttons on the first frame. Attach them if necessary or jump to another frame in the startGame() function.
    3) Use a background of 450x350 behind the game - it can be anything you choose but bear in mind the loader will obstruct the lower 40 pixels of the stage.

    ok, updated it

Maybe there could be a Flashkit Minigame Marathon STICKY so that it's easier to refer to the links - i.e. as of now, the general minigame discussion thread and this thread. Also, it would be easier for newcomers to find all relevant info.

    difficulty

    Guys,

I remember reading this in the original tread (pred metioned it on page 3), but I can't remember if a discission was made. will the shell pass 1, 2 and 3 for difficulty, or 0, 1, and 2?

ps. once i know the answer, you are welcome to delete this post. I hate reading 10 page posts.

Is the latest iteration of the loader - but i need games to test it with It's fully functional now. All the art is temporary just to see how the game shifts the layers around. Email any swf's that adhere to the iopred template to kevin(at)thebornimage.com

mbenney, the bokel loader is fantastic - but i couldn't use it. IO3, i used your findings to create a little load test routine. As soon as i get some other games I can give it some vigorous testing.

Squize, no probs on the tunes, whenever you can (next monday?) and however basic

HumanChimp, I've just managed to get your game working in the holder, but it took me quite a while! There were calls to _root which because the game is nested, meant the game wouldn't run. That said, it's running fine now and even with 2 games it feels frantic! Nice one.

    Additional Points for the minigames:

    - Don't make calls to _root
[B]- Don't have buttons on the first frame. Attach them if necessary or jump to another frame in the startGame() function.
[B]- Use a background of 450x350 behind the game - it can be anything you choose but bear in mind the loader will obstruct the lower 40 pixels of the stage.

Good points kdsh7. I added them to the first post.

Actually, I was wondering about the _root myself. If I use a variable as _root.variable then after my game is unloaded from the preloader, would the variable still remain in memory?

ooh, woops sorry bout that..oh well, just a few things to sort out..

1)after the game over thingy, and you press restart, the "by" text stays there, and doesnt invisiblise itself.

    2) on the "temporary graphics" frame, part of the mouse cable is blocked from view by something and only appears a few moments later...although that might just be me

    3) the 1 2 and 3 buttons should be invisble at the start and only be visible at the end, could you put that in or alterniatevly can you send me the edited FLA version of my game so i can put it in and also then i can see exactly what i did wrong...

Apart from those little things, thats it!

Good Luck with your games people

kdsh, i think u should make the score and lives unselectable, as now it seems very unporffesional.

here is my new game btw. Mountain Biker. just move the mouse to gain speed. (for testing, right click and choose forward).

    spotted 2 bugs.
on the game by Ihoss, if you get to the end it reloads the hills and puts you back at the beginning. It still counts it as a victory though.
The second bug happened when i had 1 life left, it didnt load the next level properly. Then it said i lost a life cos it didnt load

yeah, i noticed. i think its because kdsh hasnt implimented the gameOver() function. if he has, then i have to fix it.

i found a bug in the cup game:
if i click on the number before the cups have stopped moving, i win.

there r also some problems in the holder movie:
    - the text is still there when the game is playing. maybe u hsould put the game screen in another frame.
-the text is selectable. this is very uncool. the instruction text is also only one line.
-there is no game name text. i think we should have that.
-the checkFinished() function which is suposed to check GameOver doesnt work

hey, i can make a highscore board if u want. i got a php/mySQL/flash working already.

i also think that the score and lives in the game should be moved further down.

    y r u winking and nudging me?
