    external video files

is there anyway to have the video load in from an external file. the video is 19 min long and i can't make it any smaller file size wise. the fact that it is so big makes it hard to embed it directly into the flash movie.

i'm using flash mx and the movie file is an mpeg.

thanks for your help in advance.

You'll want to use stitching - you'll need Sorenson Squeeze to do it:

Flix does it too - but the Sorenson method is better, as it preloads the next stitch.

Keep in mind, Flash Jester is PC only and designed to be used with projector files (stand alone Flash Player).

If CD is your destination, stitching is even more important.

For web or CD, the stitching provide by Squeeze and Flix are the best methods, regardless of delivery means.

Jester, are you saying that FJ will compress and stitch movies like Squeeze or Flix? How does FJ address this users needs?

Yes thats correct JMoive will only work for the PC.

    Thanks.

No JMovie will not compress the video file, but will keep the file size as it is rather than getting any bigger if put through Flash.

    I don't understand Jester -

Which file size is maintained? Flash only bloats if the movie was already highly compress, or if you try to import .mpg on PC. Once a movie has been converted to .swf or .flv there is no bloating.

So your software handles precompressed .mpg or .avi?

At what point is this advantage achieved?
