Poll :: Does Flashkit need an e-Learning forum?
e-Learning is going to go 90% Flash in a couple years, and there's going to be TONS of questions here about it. See my argument in the thread below. (Vote yes! That means you nordberg!)

When starkey says no, that pretty much means no. Remember the vote we had for flash footers back? Yea, it overwhelmingly said yes, and we don't have them. Because there are PRACTICAL reasons when starkey says no (most of the time )
I need more info. What do you mean when you say "e-learning"?

To be fair, starks did give a valid reason, however I think there's a good argument on both sides.
By e-Learning, I mean the development of Flash content & components to be used in online training, and the deployment of Flash content for online training purposes, including tracking inside of LMS's and using industry standards.

Well, in that case I'll have to say no. That doesn't seem like a good use for a new forum. They could easily put basic knowledge (buttons, goto commands, and frames) for e-learning.
You don't need a forum just for that, IMO.

It's not the basic Flash stuff that throws people.
A lot of times Flash developers get suckered into making courseware, but have no clue about tracking with SCORM or HACP/AICC, or about specific issues with LMS's related to Flash.
Either that or we start Authorwarekit.com, but I don't think i'll get many visitors.
I think you might be surprised at the number of flashers here who work specifically for e-learning companies.

CMI - Computer Managed Instruction
LMS - Learning Management System (Saba, KnowledgePlanet, IBM/Lotus LMS)

Well, we're basicly talking flash-based tutorials, aren't we?

you know i voted yes - i agree that starks had a good reason, but i still think it would be a great resource. an eLearning forum falls under the 'Use of Flash' category. If we can have a Games or Standalone/Application forum, I would think there would be room for an eLearning forum.
I do eLearning in Flash 90% of the time, so I would be all over it...
Ah, these boys is all swelled up. So this was earlier...getting set to trade. Then, woooaaah differences.

They could be tutorials, but they're not always.
For instance, my company uses animation for storytelling to teach sexual harassment and diversity concepts. (The 00's version of the cheesy workplace training video.)
Live virtual instructor-led sessions over the internet are part of it.
It could be a simulation built in Flash of a mechanical object with questions and objectives. (We built the climate control system of the Mercedes M-Class with questions and a specific set of steps for a mechanic to follow.)
Anything you could possibly teach anyone, can be put online and made engaging and interactive using Flash. Just a few years ago, e-Learning was "text-under-glass". Basically, a lecture transcribed and put online in HTML. Click next to read more. Boring stuff. Flash is actually making e-Learning work for people.
Nordberg knows. Tell 'em dawg.

It sounds like all this learning can still be done with the basics, though.
Such as - Simple buttons, basic actionscript (stop, play, goto), and simple animation tools. If you know them, you can do everything that you described, right?
Then you can use the actionscript and basic flash forums for that.

I'd rather see a Remoting forum; or when the time comes, a Central forum.

I think the more forums we have, the better, that way people will know where to ask their questions insted of going to the wrong board. A cartoons board would be nice too (apart from the anime board).
