Mac or Pc

I got my self a nice pc at home but I am looking to buy a laptop for school and work,

Well I only need the pc for Digital Work IE FLash Dreamweaver

Just wondering if I should get the Ibook or just XP on a simple Laptop
DOes it render faster on the mac with flash???

Only you can really answer this question and it depends on which platform you prefer to work on. The PC has more scope for web design as there are alot of extra apps such as coldfusion etc that you just can't get for a mac.

Personally I prefer being the underdog and working on a mac, I find it much more user friendly and has a great community all willing to help one another, virtually no virus's flying about and OS X is unix based so what more can I say!

I do also have a PC though to test sites that I'm working on and make sure they work on both platforms which is one thing PC users seem more and more likely to forget about - they think the whole world revolves around them!

Anyway in answer to your question I would suggest the iBook and you never know, you may never want to touch the PC again and you'll also have the best of both worlds!!

I'm a Mac guy and I do not enjoy using Windows. My suggestion is, if you like using XP then don't spend the extra cash on a Mac.

Having one of both is very useful for testing.

Also, the Unix underpinnings of Mac OS X mean you can easily expermient with Apache, PHP (both preinstalled) and MySQL etc if you're interested in web development stuff.

Has anyone tried "Virtual PC" made by Connectix? www.connectix.com (They have a nice demo about the program)

I am also thinking about a Mac but want to be able to use Windows based programs.

Yeah, VPC is ok for some stuff; make sure you have lots of RAM.
Just don't go thinking you'll be able to play games or use something like 3D Studio Max in it...

VPC is sloooow, and it often crashes.
For Flash-testing purposes it is quite useless, it ran with very low framerate (looked like 8 or 10fps), even on my OSX Dual 500.

If you have a chance to get a cheap Pentium3 PC or Notebook get it.

If you are geting a PC get LINUX OS not Winodws it would be 100X better!!! Trust me!

You know what they say, "Once you've tried Mac, you'll never turn back".

I was a pc guy, I still have mine, but I have had my flat panel iMac at home for 1.5 years, a second 9600 running jaguar at home and a dual proc g4 mirror drive at work. I can't stand being on a pc. It's true, you never want to go back. That Virtual PC is something else, I was playing Kings Quest 1 and 2 on my iMac, sweet. No problems. Go with a mac. you'll thank yourself for it.
