    audio levels

    hi,

i'm looking at making something where you are able to see the audio levels when a song is playing, kind of like the jupiter plug in ad on the top of some of the flashkit pages.

i'm looking at actually basing the levels on the song that is playing, even if it's just volume. does anybody know if that's possible in flash other than just faking it?

    thanks,

    dougc

The only true ones (that are not only faked random displays), are the following...

    http://www.swift-tools.com/

swift-mp3... Used to be free, but is no longer free and can't even be downloaded at the moment.

Or if you download Flashtraks versions of loops at FK...

    http://www.flashkit.com/loops/?

And then use a Flashtrack player to play the Flashtrack loop.

    thanks oldnewbie!

i've always wondered what those flashtraks were?

is there anything special that makes the audio a flashtrak?

can i make my own without having to use the flashkit ones?

    thanks,

Don't think so, although I've never really looked into this. But from what I understand, the tracks hold encoded info that the players use for their displays. Doubt you could encode your own tracks, but maybe you can.
You might want to look into the Swift mp3 thing when it's available, that, I gather, can let you encode your own tracks.
Could possibly even mail you a copy of the free player (Windows .exe application) they use to have available, if and when I can find it!

    wow!

if you could send me a copy of that, it would be great!
i was looking online for it, and couldn't find it anywhere.

    thanks a lot, oldnewbie!

i tried it out and was able to create the data.swf file, but it still wasn't working with the flashtrak player.

any idea what i could be doing wrong?

    thanks,

That's what I was saying in my e-mail. That doesn't work with the Flashtrak players, it worked with their own player which I never downloaded before they took it off their site. Never thought they would do that! Unless someone else had downloaded it at the time it was available and could post it, then we're stuck!

does anybody out there have that file?

i wrote the swift mp3 guy and he said this new version should be available in the next week or two for about 21 dollars.

    can't wait.
