ads on flashkit OR what kind of monkey designed this?
seriously, ever since the new vB kicked in (or at least around then), there has been two ads on each page. at 1024 x 768, there is absolutely NO content visable. WTF?
please see attachment, and tell me why Adblock doesn't work on these...
Ah, these boys is all swelled up. So this was earlier...getting set to trade. Then, woooaaah differences. Blog ¤ Photos ¤ Book
i don't mind the ads...i mean, fk provides us all a great service free of charge.
and that banner ad is normal, but what's with the giant square on the right side?
that thing causes such a spacing issue....what a joke!
is that the best they could do?

Developers are aware of Adblock and are finding ways to place ads around it everyday. It's no wonder that here, with all the FireFox and Extension talk that goes on that this place is a prime target for non iFramed Text and JS ads.
I'm just glad FK is not my real estate advisor, that's a lot of space.....how much for each imprint does FK get? Or is it just click-through??
I don't mind the ad so much, just that it breaks the layout. Can't someone cut the height down?

flashkit should do a click-an-ad matathon the first days of each month. Every user should try to click as many times as they can, click click click until you get tired, and make flashkit earn enough money, so after that first week, they can remove the ads, and we'd have 3 weeks of an adless forum.
If we were smart about it, we would only click the ads that don't bork the page.

Blend - Most successful Adsense users seem to be taking the approach of blending their ads into the overall theme of their page. This often means making the ad’s background (and often border) the same (or similar) colour to the background of the page and making the title and URL the same as links of the rest of the page. In this way the ad does not stand out as being ‘ad-like’. Having said this I know of a few bloggers who take the opposite approach and make their ads as bright and ugly as possible in the hope of attracting the attention of their readers. I don’t subscribe to this because I think it cheapens the overall feel and look of a page.
I wrote a user javascript for opera that searches for links that looks like ads it then finds the table containing the links and checks its height. If it's over a set height the table is removed. It's a real hack (and the ad displays briefly before the event triggering the script is fired) but it seems to get that giant square advert most of the time whilst leaving the regular sized banners untouched.
