    Upgrade! (FK)

Looks like our dreams are finally coming true.

So, what do you think we can expect to see?

I like on the other boards the drop down menu systems and the caption boxes that appear when you highlight a thread title.

To the dismay of a few.....there will only be yellow. The new version of vB (vB3) only allows for one template per installation. Installing the other two themes would require 2 whole other installs.

Expect to see a faster FK after the first day. Indexing the entire site will take a good 15 to 20 plus hours, after that things should be smooth sailing.

REMEMBER: Please be patient the guys doing this (including Planet) will be working very hard to ensure a clean transition. If you have not seen THIS THREAD it states that the site will be down tonight until around 8 AM GMT-4.

I am sure that Planet will have ONE THREAD posted in the Feedback Forum for any issues that crop up during the switch.

Now join me in a moment of silence so all goes well tonight

    Good Luck guys!!!

    Fast! Refereshing!

Those are my first responses! I'm truly happy. Nothing to complain about except for maybe the absolute-width header.

    Hehe, I love it!

Ah, sexy. Iam loving the drop down menus. Another cool thing is that if the first post is small, then if you just hover your mouse over the thread link, the first message is shown as a tool-tip, very nice.

Any chance of a logo upgrade

Yea, this is going to take some time to get used to. It was the same flash kit every day for years. Oh well, change is good.

I'm happy the feedback so far is mostly positive

Style changes will have to wait until the day shift shows up in a few hours.

Ah! Yuck. This isn't the dream come true I thought it would be. This is a nightmare.

    Avatars above the message... weak.

I hope they get some new skins applied pronto. What's up with this light yellow color. Way too many different colors.

    I'm going to throw up.

    Just some more feedback:

This new layout is WAY too busy. Part of FK's success before was its simplicity and easy to navigate interface. There is so much going on that even as a seasoned FK user, I'm a bit overwhelmed.

And please do something about that giant microsoft OneNote popup in the upper right hand corner. It's driving me crazy.

Put the "Who's browsing this forum" back at the top, member information (post count/avatar) back on the side, and you're good.

The member information especially. Way too much extra scrolling to get through the thread and sort of breaks up my train of thought. It's not an easy transition when reading responses from one response to another. It's like putting speed bumps on a highway.

It would be so much better if you could retain as much as the original look as possible without going completely left field.

    yucky.

Hey you also Have to make your message at least 10 chars!!!!!

So far, my first post sucks!

Now I HAVE to get the FireFox Ad Blocker!

Where is everyone??? I like seeing who's in here...
Ya I know alot of you are hidden, but that didn't bother me...
    I like knowing who's around.

How do I change my title now???

    AND EVERYTHING Genesis F5 SAID

    You wrecked my footer too.

Hahaha if you view an attatchment now, it doesn't even open a new browser window!!!!
Common guys get your caca together!

What's with the 18 Point Usernames??? Jesus!

The only thing I like so far is seeing what the last thread replied to was and who replied on the Forum Index.

    BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!

    fugly

I do not think there is a single thing about this new design that I like.

    • The sad smiley above looks awful.
    • The OneNote ad is in completely the wrong place it has to go.
    • The change of the table layout for the board overviews means that I can no longer quickly see who has posted what threads.
    • The new format of the posts within a thread is also flawed, positioning the avatars above posts leaves an entire row of unused space. Now you have to scroll a lot more area to read a thread than before, and again its harder to quickly look up something.
    • The icons although I'm sure to some peoples liking are too large and overworked for me.
    • This post a reply page breaks from the rest of the sites entire scheme for some reason.

I'm sure there are other things I do not like about the new design, but I've only been browsing it for 5mins and haven't looked at everything yet.

I don't think any of these are transitional issues either, it just generally is a worse design. It seems a modern look has taken precedence of usability.

Perhaps this new design is what will finally keep me away from FK...
Ah who am I kidding, I will back in 15mins!
