Flash Kit History
Flash Kit was started in October of 1999 by Mark Fennell and friends, and after having spent countless hours surfing for sounds, images and ideas for their Flash projects, it occurred to them that it would be a good idea to collate and collect as much Flash related development material as they could into one place! And so the vision of creating a one-stop-shopping resource site for Flash developers and enthusiast had begun with the goal of providing a useful and easy to use, raw materials center for Flash creations.
As the team moved forward with their vision, they hadn't realized how much hard work had to go into creating a site of this nature. At every point the team had to take a step back and consider "would that help us?", "Would that be useful?" These ideas, combined with the task of sourcing content, collating content, presenting content, administering the site, promoting the site, and adding functionality to the site, turned into many late nights and hair pulling, and the team pressed forward.
In January 2000, Mark partnered with the Internet.com network, which was not only a great sign of recognition, but also propelled the site further forward by allowing the team to create a host of new features, and provided much needed bandwidth for the growing number of Flash Kit server. Today, and now partnered with QuinStreet, the Leader in Vertical Marketing and Media online, Flash Kit succeeds because of the generosity of the community and volunteers it serves, as well as the team working diligently in the background to keep the servers, databases and network running smoothing, 24x7.

Flash Kit Volunteers
Flash Kit's success is not just in the team running the site, but in the many volunteers who spend countless hours moderating the board. You can take a look here to see who they are, what they do and if they're currently online. These are industry pros who set aside time each day/week to devote to helping newcomers and those with complex questions regarding Flash and other third-party products. By volunteering their time, they are also contributing greatly to the growth of the Flash Design and Development Community. To learn more about these amazing deities, check out the Mod Squad Forum
